Destruction is so lame in The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim?
Within each game I play as mage archetype, as a result I started a mage in Skyrim as well. I in conclusion raised my destruction to 75 and learned expert spells. And I decided on the way to test them. As a result I walk to a cave bear having ice spear within both hands, I cast and it. I hit him in favor of 15-20% of his hp. It took 1/3 of my mana pool (which is 500 magicka), I as well have 250% magicka regeneration. How am I supposed to kill that thing this magic?! What is the peak of such a lame destruction spells damage?! 90 damage through augmented frost (frost spells perform 50% additional damage). I have assassin character as well, through blade of woe; sneaking up to a giant I am able to kill him with one single hit. Why is this so imbalanced?

Did you try with the additional encounters? Fire vs X, lightening vs Y? You may have thrown ice at a bear that resists frost (note the fur). I wouldn’t mind the spells doing the damage they perform at the moment if there magic cost wasn’t so immense, it's annoying at what time it takes so many spells to kill somewhat and you run out of mana. And mana seems to turn out to be additional and more of a problem. Don’t know possibly I’ll reach a stage were mana isn’t so awful.

Spell making was broken. Characters that completely focus on top of somewhat are weak. A character taking basically 2h talents (though no blacksmithing, no alchemy, no enchanting, no block etc) is going to have your similar problems. Spend a number of in Conjuration. Skill up enchanting and boost your magic through your gear. You'll get awesome results.

Within Oblivion, even through that horrible level system on top of levels 30+ I could be able to kill the most powerful mobs with two spells (1st one was weakness to fire, frost and lighting, 2nd one through fire, frost and lighting damage). It usually would consume almost all of my mana, but I was happy to feel like a powerful destruction mage. What do we acquire in Skyrim?! I am a archmage of the College of Winterhold, specialist in Destruction and my level is 25.and I am Dragonborn. However to kill a simple cave bear i have to spend half a minute, running circles around him.

Lightning drains magicka, frost drains stamina, fire is presently untainted damage. Bears, trolls, spriggans and a lot of other animals are weak to fire. Don't cast frost spells at frost-based enemies. I've establish that the right type of destruction spell will kill some creature by less than a third of your magicka.

I have mine set to expert and I can perform regarding the same. 3 or 4 hits through duel firebolts typically kill bears. I can cook the majority bandits alive using only 1. I discover magic to be quite powerful, I've killed high leveled enemies with magic when all melee got me was two axes implanted into my skull.

It’s a level scaling problem, however within the teens; I possibly will run out of mana focusing a single cast flames/frostbite/sparks on a single enemy earlier than they were half dead. At that point I had to summon a flame atranoch and run approximately at the same time as it did the majority of damage, or my companion did. The only thing that's made it bearable has been leveling enchanting and stacking destruction mana cost enchants on my gear. Even after that, there's randomly stuff that is not hardly affected by my attacks akin to giants and mammoths, and sometimes vampires health bars barely move. If it's a resist difficulty to a precise element, afterward that's pretty lame, as no resist on enemies in default difficulty is supposed to be higher than most likely 30% with maybe a few special exceptions.

Since I was spacing fire and my flame atranoch was doing additional damage through her fire bolt, I don't consider it was a fire resist problem. Not only that, however the atranoch not at all missed her target, whereas with bolt and other aim based spells I miss plenty. Destruction is gimp compared to additional specializations in my opinion. It was type of gimp within oblivion too.

Let's utilize a cold spell on an individual that has a lot of fat and fur to protect it commencing cold. Try using fire on it. If you fight undead, in addition use fire. If you're next to Daedra, utilize Shock. If you're against a Fire Astronach, use Frost. Everything has resistances to certain elemental types; in Skyrim most things have cold resistance for the reason that it's always cold in skyrim. Once you figure this out, you will be a much better Mage.

I don’t would like to one shot them, I presently don’t wish for to spend all of my magicka to deal 40% to a easy bear. The only way I am able to kill that bear is using apprentice spell firebolt, it will take me regarding 30-40 sec or even ore and all of my magicka. To kill a dragon/giant I will have to spend a number of minutes of real time, this is ridiculous.

Through similarity to warrior and stealth styles, magic has a pathetic potential damage output, and for one extremely easy reason - the spell's effectiveness/damage doesn't scale through your skill level, whereas melee/archery damage does. It would be such an easy fix for Bethesda to patch this in, and I really hope they do. I'm not holding out any great hopes though.

I just had an encounter through a bear and I shot him in the company of the 2nd level electrocution spell and it took away regarding 3 quarters of his health and that was that. Possibly bears are used to the cold and that’s why you didn’t acquire lucky there.

in the company of current regen rates, you sure you would like to wait that long running around after shooting one thing down, assuming you stay alive that long within combat and 500 for 500 is still more luxurious than usual spells through perks.

Bears are hardy vs. magic; I wouldn't make use of them as your test subjects. I play a mage myself (flipping among expert and master complexity, occasionally master presently doesn't feel realistic at all and npcs end up killing eachother in fact fast).
