Erorr : 0X800407c While installing Google Chrome
Whenever i try to install Google Chrome on my system it gives me the following error message error : 0X800407c . I am using the dell inspiron desktop running with windows 7. Any body faced similar kind of issue in the past can help me in this matter. I would really appreciate your help . Thanks in advance

You need to do the following steps in order to install the google chrome browser on your windows 7 system;

* Open the Start menu and select Run.
* Type regedit in the run box and click OK.
* Try to find out the relevant registry key for your operating system:
◦Windows XP: AuditInProgress in HKLM\System\Setup
◦Windows Vista: ImageState in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\State
◦Windows 7: ImageState in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\State right-click on it and select Modify.
* Delete the value.
* Click OK.

You might not have downloaded the correct copy of the google chrome for installation or it would have been corrupted. So i would recommend you to download a fresh copy of the google chrome browser and try installing it on your system. This new copy will execute the be installed properly on your system.

Sounds like your system has been infected by a virus which is not allowing you to install the browser so it would be better if you download the antimalware and install it on your system and after updating it scan the whole system and delete all the detected threats after this has been done install the google chrome.

I have faced the similar when installing google chrome browser on my system but after a long research finally got the fix when i followed the below mentioned steps

* Click start menu.
* Select RUN and enter "regedit" in the search box and press Enter
* Find and right-click the relevant registry key for your operating system:

Windows XP: AuditInProgress in HKLM\System\Setup
Windows Vista: ImageState in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\State
Windows 7: ImageState in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE

\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\State
* Select Modify.
* Delete the value.
* Click OK.
